Silantro Fil-Mex, UP Town Center

A Filipino – Mexican cuisine originated in Dagupan, Pangasinan and one of the crowd favorites in Kapitolyo - which is like the home of the foodies, just opened another branch in UP Town Center. I always hear good reviews about it that’s why I really wanted to try their dishes. Good thing, they expanded and put one up in Quezon City, just near my place.

How to get there?

From Edsa-North MRT/Trinoma/SM North Edsa, ride a jeepney that has a signage of ‘UP Diliman’.
The fare would be Php 11.00. Then tell the driver to drop you off at ‘the oblation’ inside UP Diliman. From there, ride another jeepney with a ‘Katipunan’ signage. And the fare would be Php 8.00.  Along Katipunan Avenue, you will now see the UP town center just on the opposite side. And from there, you could just tell the driver to drop you off on a pedestrian overpass that is nearest to UP town center. Then cross the overpass and walk just several meters away towards UP Town Center. Silantro is located on the 2nd floor inside the mall.

the menu

Silantro dishes offer mainly Mexican food but with Filipino touch. It has generous servings that can provide to 4 or more persons per dish.

Beef Nachos (Php180)

Beef Nachos is my favorite! Aside from its big serving, it has the best toppings on it with beef chunks that are not your typical ground meat, real melted cheese, and tomatoes. You can also dip it into their green salsa (guacamole - avocado based dip) and garlic sauce which I loved it too.

Caliente Wings - 6pcs (Php180)

Caliente wings are the sweet and spicy chicken wings. It is surprisingly good! Not too sweet and not too spicy, exact taste only. It would be best to add up for your appetizer.

Silantro's Paella Fajita Mix (Php250)

Silantro’s Paella Fajita Mix is very tasty with seafood toppings on it. This rice mix was rightly cooked.

Lamb Chop (Php350)

I also like their Lamb Chop. It’s juicy and tender, it tasted like real steak. Simply delicious! It’s a little costly but it has a huge serving, perfect for sharing.

Other main course I tasted is their Pork Chop and Pork Ribs, both have excellent taste!

Silantro's Pork Ribs (Php290)

Grilled Porkchop (Php210)

On the whole, eating at Silantro will satisfy you. Despite of waiting long at the queue just to be seated (just be sure to come early or don’t attempt to eat at lunch or dinner rush hour), it will be all worth it. The food is fantastic and it’s very affordable!
