Casa Verde at UP Town Center: I Fell For The Hype

One of my favorite dishes if you would ask is definitely ribs. I am a big fan. If a resto offers this kind of dish, then I wouldn't miss it. I have tried already some other ribs all over metro cooked on different ways. There were tasty but costly, and there were also cheap but small and not so appetizing. And now I think I found the perfect ribs (in my belief) -- The delicious, immense, flavorsome, and most especially economical price Brian’s ribs of Casa Verde.

Casa Verde is a chain of family-owned restaurants which actually originated in Cebu City. When you try to search for a popular dining destination in Cebu, Casa Verde will be on top of it. That’s why people were thrilled when it landed here in Manila. They don't have to travel long just to experience its tasty twist home style comfort food.  And as for me, I was curious because of its hype and of course when I heard that the best seller of this restaurant is their ribs.

some cool stuffs inside the resto

How to reach the place…
From Edsa-North MRT/Trinoma/SM North Edsa, ride a jeepney that has a signage of ‘UP Diliman’. The fare would be Php 11.00. Then tell the driver to drop you off at ‘the oblation’ inside UP Diliman. From there, ride another jeepney with a ‘Katipunan’ signage. And the fare would be Php 8.00.  Along Katipunan Avenue, you will now see the UP town center just on the opposite side. And from there, you could just tell the driver to drop you off on a pedestrian overpass that is nearest to UP town center. Then cross the overpass and walk just several meters away towards UP Town Center. Casa Verde is located on the 2nd floor.

beware of massive peepz

Casa Verde’s menu is simple, they don't offer too many dishes and it is straightforward. So you can choose easily on what to order. They have burgers, pasta, steaks, ribs, seafood, and desserts to choose from.

I can really attest on the restaurant’s philosophy which is “Value for Money”. They really offer very reasonable prices having huge servings that can make two or three persons share in just one meal. And of course having the best quality of food.

You can take it from these mouthwatering dishes we ordered…

"Karla mari" (Php148)

Karla mari is for our starters which is a deep fried squid dish paired with their own version of sweet and sour sauce. There’s nothing ecstatic about its taste apart from its crunchy coating, bigger squid, and its great sauce. But this can really be a good choice for your appetizer.

Tenderloin Tips and Eggs (Php198)

Tenderloin tips and eggs is like our own version of ‘tapsilog’ (tapa, garlic rice – sinangag, and fried egg – itlog, combined into one meal). It is a tenderloin beef marinated in a sweet and savory sauce, served with two eggs and rice. The taste was just right. The beef was perfectly seasoned that makes it flavorful.  You can order this if you just want a simple and delicious meal.

Chicken Fingers (Php248)

Chicken Fingers is breaded chicken tenderloins, served with honey mustard dressing, mashed potatoes and some vegetable medley. The chicken served is the breast part which is really pure white and surprisingly juicy. Their mashed potato is also yummy. This meal can be shared for two to three persons; the chicken really has a huge portion.

Casa Verde Burger (Php225)

Casa Verde Burger has everything on it. It has American cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, onion, bacon and a fried egg. The bun is soft and patty is delicious. The downside only for me is that the patty isn't that big or thick which is why it is kind of overpowered by the taste of the egg.

Aside from this, Casa Verde has a 12-inch burger which they became known of, they call it The Mighty Ton (Php888). The burger is really huge having a kilo of tenderloin, 12-inch bun, and overload of cheese, bacon, lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. It can serve up to eight people. So make sure to have an empty stomach if you are planning to eat it alone. I haven't tried it yet, but I will surely reserve all my hunger and cravings before I come back and order the dish.

Lauren's Lava (Php188)

Then for our dessert, we had Lauren’s Lava which is a chocolate filled with lava. Topped with vanilla ice cream and covered in a crunchy chocolate shell. It has a huge size that can be shared up to three persons. The chocolate cake underneath is warm that makes a perfect pair to the vanilla ice cream coated with chocolate on top. I loved it! :)

And of course, we had their all time best seller, the Brian’s Ribs (Php250). It is a baked pork ribs with a sweet, tangy piquet sauce served with rice, corn and carrots. The ribs has two big chunks with a lot of meat that can be shared with two to three persons, tender and juicy pork, topped with tasty smoked barbecue that makes it flavorful. Really price is worth! :D

From these dishes of Casa Verde, this restaurant is really recommended, you will surely enjoy great food, and money will all be worth it. Now, go visit to your nearest branch of Casa Verde, try it yourself and be the judge.
