Netong's Original La Paz Batchoy, IloIlo City

Part of traveling is to search out for what the town proudly possess. May it be its beaches, nature, people, food, or other famous landmarks. Do you agree? We search out for these and make sure to include it in our travel plans. We do this because we simply want to make our trip the best and worthwhile.

So when I visited Iloilo, one thing that really came up on my mind is the Ilonggo cuisine. The very popular dish of them and its pride, Batchoy.

Lucky Chick, UP Town Center

Who loves fried chicken? We all do! Right? And so a brand new restaurant in UP Town Center will serve you our all-time classic comfort food. Lucky Chick, a Southern restaurant is another venture of the people behind Nolita, The Bowery, Borough, and L.E.S Bagels. They wanted to take away our idea of fried chicken as a common or ordinary dish by making the usual into extraordinary.

Uke Box Caffe, Libis Quezon City

Do you like playing music? Do you love eating? Or you love doing both at the same time. Well here’s one perfect place you can hang out on with your friends or family while fulfilling your desires, only at Uke Box Caffé in Eastwood Libis, Quezon City.

Uke Box Caffe is not your ordinary coffee shop or snack bar that you used to hang out, bond, or relax with colleagues. They added some twist on the place. Their main theme is 'Ukulele' (Instrument with 4 strings) where they actually got the name Uke Box. That’s why when you enter the place, you will see numerous ukuleles that are displayed on the wall. But these are not for display only, because you can buy those or rent it to play there. So if you’re really in the ukulele scene, you will surely love it here. But then if you don’t have any idea about this instrument just like me, it’s alright because they offer free workshops if you want to learn. They have an open mic too if you have the talent in singing. Or just seat, relax, and just enjoy live music while having good food.

[Sponsored Post] Galli Village Cafe, Makati City

People nowadays spend their money more on traveling rather their own luxuries, material things or other comforts in life. We are very adventurous exploring places around the country, in Asia, or in all over the world. With this, we don’t only get into actions or activities, but we also get to experience variety of food.

I’m saying this because people now are very knowledgeable when it comes to food because of traveling. They are very adventurous and experimental not only on traveling but also in eating.  That’s also how the restaurant businesses with fusion cuisines are becoming successful here in the Philippines. Just like what the owners of Galli Village Cafe did.

Our Lady of Manaoag Shrine, Pangasinan

After visiting the top tourist destination in Pangasinan (Hundred Islands), I was very glad that I also got a chance to see one of the major religious landmarks in the country, the Our Lady of Manaoag Shrine. Many Catholics in the country and from all over the world are full devotees of this church. People heard, believed, and experienced themselves the miracles it bring. That’s why people are continuously visiting the place to wish, pray, or plead for their different own reasons. And more and more are coming and now becoming followers of Our Lady of Manaoag.

Silantro Fil-Mex, UP Town Center

A Filipino – Mexican cuisine originated in Dagupan, Pangasinan and one of the crowd favorites in Kapitolyo - which is like the home of the foodies, just opened another branch in UP Town Center. I always hear good reviews about it that’s why I really wanted to try their dishes. Good thing, they expanded and put one up in Quezon City, just near my place.

Welcome 2016!!!

Happy New Year to everyone!! 12 months have passed once again. I want to thank all the people who took time to visit and read my few blogs. As a newbie blogger, it’s given that it would be tough at start, especially writing and photography is not really in my line but then I realize that it’s tougher to continue what you have started. Frustrations come - you have travels to share but you can’t write everything what’s in your mind, you get to the point on not being contented on the photos you take, you have no time, no travels, and more disappointments. It’s really hard to have a determination to go on. But then I just believe on the love and passion in what you do. That’s why I keep going on and always try to strive to be better.

Now another fresh new year is here, it means another chance to grow, to develop what I do, make my blogs and photos better, to learn something new, to discover places, meet new people to share and learn with them, to write more informative, more fun, inspirational, etc for everyone. And to just continue loving on what I do.

Again, have a prosperous New Year from the Prettea Traveler!

Hundred Islands, Alaminos Pangasinan

I have been places in the Philippines, from top beaches, islands, mountains, etc. But there’s one place I haven’t been to which has been famous for years, since I was a kid if I’m not mistaken. That’s why I was ecstatic to have a chance finally on visiting the top tourist destination in Pangasinan – the Hundred Islands.  And I also got a chance to confirm if it’s really one hundred islands ;)

Hundred Islands National Park is located in the city of Alaminos in the province of Pangasinan. Several islands are scattered in Lingayen Gulf in the North-western part of Luzon, and some of it have been developed already for tourism which named as: Governor’s Island, Quezon Island, Marcos’ Island, etc. And up to today, it’s still growing and they are continue developing for more tourists to come.

Mt. Ulap - Philex Ridge Day Hike

Itogon City – to be found in the Cordillera Mountains of Benguet, well-known as the center of big mining companies like Philex Mining Company, Itogon-Suyoc Mining Company, Benguet Corporation, etc. – offers a lot of tourist attractions, natures, and adventures rather than those mining businesses. The town has a chain of hills having numerous mountain peaks and the highest of them is Mt. Ulap.

Mt. Ulap, rising at 1846 MaSL is another spot to see for the mountaineers, hikers, adventure seekers, or even to those who are new into this kind of hobby. Its trail which is known as Ampucao – Sta. Fe Ridge Trail is recently becoming famous after some trail running events were held there. The trail can be trek in about 3 to 4 hours to reach the summit with a difficulty of 3/9.

Sunken Cemetery at Camiguin Island

Today’s All Soul's Day. It has been a tradition to us to visit, pray, offer candles and flowers for our departed loved ones on this time of the year. Some have to travel far to their provinces just to visit which became their habit already every year. With all the talks about this day, I remember one time when we had a trip at Cagayan De Oro and able to do a side trip to Camiguin. We were able to visit a cemetery along the way which I find really unique and very historical.

[Sponsored Post] Super Duck Modern Tea Shop

I was so glad that I was invited on a food tasting event for bloggers at Super Duck Modern Tea. They have provided us samples of their bestsellers, discussed super duck origins, about the tea culture in Taiwan, and more. Thank you to sir Aldous for organizing this event, for the milk tea overloads experience, and learning a lot about teas. J

We all know that popular milk tea shops are everywhere now in Manila, and there was also rave the past years, people were addicted to it, most of these popular tea shops offer just the same taste or quality. Then here is this one shop which has its own kind of approach to their teas that makes them unique and I believe will make them stand out to others, it is the Super Duck Modern Tea Shop.

Casa Verde at UP Town Center: I Fell For The Hype

One of my favorite dishes if you would ask is definitely ribs. I am a big fan. If a resto offers this kind of dish, then I wouldn't miss it. I have tried already some other ribs all over metro cooked on different ways. There were tasty but costly, and there were also cheap but small and not so appetizing. And now I think I found the perfect ribs (in my belief) -- The delicious, immense, flavorsome, and most especially economical price Brian’s ribs of Casa Verde.

Casa Verde is a chain of family-owned restaurants which actually originated in Cebu City. When you try to search for a popular dining destination in Cebu, Casa Verde will be on top of it. That’s why people were thrilled when it landed here in Manila. They don't have to travel long just to experience its tasty twist home style comfort food.  And as for me, I was curious because of its hype and of course when I heard that the best seller of this restaurant is their ribs.

Maria Cristina Falls, Iligan City

Since my elementary days, I've been introduced on one of the waterfalls in the island of Mindanao that is well known for its natural beauty and also the primary source of electric power in the city.  From Filipino textbooks, lecture of our teachers, educational shows, etc., the Maria Cristina Falls is one of the favorites to be mention of or be proud of.

STK Ta Bay! sa Paolito's Seafood, Cebu City

One thing that Filipinos really love is Food. Do you agree? That’s why for those who travel just like me; it’s the one thing that we look forward to when we visit different places. And recently, I had my vacation in Cebu which aside from their wonderful tourist spots, genuine people, I also keep coming back because of their great dishes.

We all know that when people talk about famous Cebu foodstuff, one thing that pops to their mind is ‘Cebu Lechon’, am I right? But aside from it, Cebu is also known for their seafood dishes which they have named it uniquely as ‘Sutukil’ or ‘STK’ that stands for SUgba, Tinola, and KILawin. I have been to Cebu three times already, and I have observed that most of their restaurants or eateries offer this kind of dishes. And from all the dishes that I have tasted, I think I have found already the perfect place to make our seafood cravings fulfilled.

Caramoan Island, Camarines Sur ~ Day 2

This is part two of my blog post Caramoan Island, Camarines Sur. On our second day, we visited Manlawi Sandbar beach, Bugtong sandbar, Soledad Island, Bag-ing beach/Sabitang Laya, and Our Lady of Peace Monument.

Our island hopping for day two started early. Our tour guide told us that most of the islands that we are going to visit will take longer travel time than we had on our first day, so we needed to get up early that day.
We headed again to Bikal port which is the jump off site to start our second day of island hopping.

Are you a fan of the hit reality TV show in the US, 'Survivor' ? Just two years ago, two consecutive seasons of the show -25th and 26th season were shot at Caramoan Island in Camarines Sur Philippines. I was able to watch some of its episode and was amazed on the beauty of the island. From then on, I have listed this place on my bucket list. And that’s why I was so excited when my friends were able to plan on this trip, because I will be able to tick off another item on my travel bucket list! J
